How it works
From a short description to a considered decision.
How a Preflight assessment moves from your plans to a rated outcome, specific changes and a proportionate PIA.
Describe the activity
Write what is changing in a sentence or two. As you type, Preflight notes what it recognises: health information, an outside provider, overseas access, marketing, automated decisions. No Word questionnaire is required.
Confirm, correct or leave unsure
You see each observation beside the words it came from. Confirmed observations are saved with that provenance. Something the description leaves open, or contradicts, is shown as worth checking rather than guessed.
A few questions that matter
Preflight works out which unanswered questions could still change the rating, add a recommended change or alter the kind of PIA, and asks those first. The rest remain available if you want a fuller record.
A rating you can rely on, and its limits
The result shows the privacy risk, why, and what would raise it. If the outcome is still open, you see the range (for example Low to Moderate) rather than a reassuring Low. Up to three specific changes come with an owner and a check, and with the civil penalty tier that applies if a change resting on the Privacy Act is left undone.
A PIA sized to the activity
Download a threshold record, a short PIA or a full PIA, chosen from the factors present, as a page you can print to PDF or as an editable Word document. Each includes a sign-off block for the person who decides; the web version carries the complete assessment record as an appendix.
Stay current as the law moves
Each saved PIA can be checked against the latest rules. Preflight shows which new laws would apply and what they would add, and lets you reassess in one click with your earlier answers carried over. Reforms that are proposed but not yet law are shown as a watch list only.
Keep changes accountable
Correct an original answer and reassess. Earlier results keep their original facts, methodology and sources; an action disappearing does not prove remediation.
