FAQ

A few useful answers.

Straight answers about assessments, accounts, pricing and limits.

Is this a complete legal clearance?

No. Preflight is decision support with stated limits and unassessed duties, even though its method and rules are lawyer-reviewed. A Low rating is not a finding of compliance.

Does Preflight decide things from my description?

No. It proposes observations and shows the words each came from. Only what you confirm is recorded, and you can correct or leave anything unsure.

How many questions will I answer?

Usually a handful. Preflight asks first what could change the rating, the recommended changes or the kind of PIA, and tells you when nothing left could change the result. More questions stay available for a fuller record.

Must I answer every question?

No. Unknown is a valid answer. Unanswered and deferred questions are never silently treated as completed, and missing information is never treated as a breach.

What can I download?

A Privacy Impact Assessment sized to the activity, as a printable page or an editable Word document, with the complete assessment record as its appendix. Earlier releases offer their original report formats.

What happens when the law changes?

Saved PIAs keep the rules they were made with. The library marks any PIA made on earlier rules and shows what newer law would add; you can reassess with your answers carried over. Proposed reforms are shown for awareness and never change a result.

Does the engine send facts to a language model?

No. Preflight’s assessment engine uses deterministic application code and structured rules. Nothing you enter is sent to a model provider.

Do I need an account?

Yes. Sign in with Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn or a one-time code sent to your email. New and returning users sign in the same way.

Can I enter customer or patient information?

You rarely need to. Preflight asks about kinds of information and arrangements, not about particular people. Describe the activity without names or personal details of real people.
